Robin, Nathaniel

Nathaniel Robin, pianist / composer/ painter, was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania in 1897. He studied music at Carnegie Tech and then was a private student of Ernst Bloch and Arnold Schoenberg. Except for a period in the thirties, where he was in California (Schoenberg was at UCLA), he worked on his music and painting in New York, living at the Gorham Hotel on 55th Street with a studio at Carnegie Hall. He was the brother of Leo Robin, lyricist. Nathaniel Robin died in August of 1987 in New York City.
