Adams, Porter Hartwell, 1894-1945.

Porter Adams (1894-1945) was born in Andover, MA, on 10 August 1894 and died in Boston, MA. He was made acting president of NU on 1 January and became president on 25 August 1934. Adams had served as trustee since 1931 and was made a vice-president in 1933. Porter Adams was a pioneering student of aeronautical engineering at MIT and pursued this interest throughout his life, primarily though his active membership in the National Aeronautical Association. He served in the Navy during WWI. Porter Adams resigned the presidency, due to poor health, in 1939. He died 5 December 1945.
