Sheldon, Jerome J.

Jerome Sheldon came to Alaska in 1942 with the U.S. Army's Eighteenth Engineer Regiment. He worked on the Alcan Highway and on Shemya Island. After the war, he worked for newspapers in Oregon and California. He moved to Fairbanks in 1954, where he was editor of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Sheldon later worked on newspapers in Ketchikan, Juneau, and Palmer and also developed an Alaska newspaper clipping service. He left Alaska in 1979. He has since written free-lance articles on Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.
