James, Dorothea Disston
Dorothea Dundas Disston was born in 1912 to Dorothea D. Pratt and William D. Disston. She belonged to the "Disston Steel Family," owners of the Disston Saw Works. Dorothea earned a stenographer's certificate from Pierce School of Business Administration in 1933, and married Howard C. James in 1935. After her husband opened "Knife-Crafters," a knife company in competition with the Disston Saw Works, Dorothea's family cut off contact with her.
