Traquair, Phoebe Anna
The artist Phoebe Anna Traquair was born in Dublin in 1852. She moved to Edinburgh in 1873. Her work included jewellery enamelling, book illuminating and binding, embroidery, and mural painting. Her murals can be found at the former Catholic and Apostolic Church, East London Street, Edinburgh, at the Song School, St. Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh, and in the Thistle Chapel, St. Giles, Edinburgh. Traquair was the first female member of the Royal Scottish Academy. Phoebe Anna Traquair died in 1936.
