Northwestern University (Evanston, Ill.). Master of the Communications Residential College
The Communications Residential College (CRC) is one of eleven Residential Colleges on the Northwestern University campus. The Residential Colleges, first established in the 1970s, provide diverse dormitory communities for students based on themes that range from business, science and arts, to multi-thematic. The Colleges range in size from 37 to 300 students and offer a variety of activities and events that contribute to the education of the students who live or participate in the College. Within each College, students and faculty work together to plan activities that form the basis of each College’s intellectual community.
The CRC opened in 1981 at East Fairchild Hall, 1855 Sheridan Road. The CRC encourages its residents to explore the mass media: broadcast, print and film. Among the Colleges activities are pianosides (informal performances or presentations by faculty, staff members or other guest speakers); producing plays; managing an in-house radio station; participating in tutorials (academic classes taught in the College and limited to members of the College); and publishing a yearbook and a newsletter.
