Tissue Culture Association
The Tissue Culture Association was formed in 1946 as the Tissue Culture Commission (1946-1949); in 1994 the membership voted for a third name change, the Society for In Vitro Biology. The goals of the association are to certify media products, to provide educational opportunities in the field, and to produce scholarly materials, including the Index of Tissue Culture, the association's journal In Vitro, and the TCA Newsletter. In 1971 the W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center was opened to serve as an educational center for the association.
