Mazer, Harry.
Harry Mazer was born May 31, 1925, in New York City, the son of Polish-Jewish immigrants. He worked in factories for 10 years, served in the Army during WWII, and became a full-time writer in 1963. He feels he had a difficult time learning to write well, and credits his writer wife, Norma Fox Mazer, for helping and encouraging him. Most of his writing is for young adults, and he has received numerous awards and honors for his writing. His books deal with real situations that confront teenagers, and his characters are down-to-earth, with both good and bad characteristics.
