Ford Motor Company was incorporated under the laws of Michigan on June 16, 1903. There were twelve stockholders, including Henry Ford, who held twenty-five percent of the stock. From 1906 to 1919, Henry Ford and his son Edsel proceeded to buy out all the other stockholders. On July 9, 1919, the present Ford Motor Company was incorporated under the laws of Delaware. Between 1919 and 1920 Ford Motor Company of Delaware acquired all the assets of Ford Motor Company of Michigan. Ford Motor Company of Michigan was officially declared defunct in 1926.
