Seymour, William H.

William H. Seymour was a Louisiana politician and amateur historian. A native of Warrenton, Miss., Seymour spent his childhood in Europe. At the beginning of the Civil War he enlisted in the Confederate Army and served as an artillery sargeant. After relocating to Algiers, La., Seymour took an interest in local affairs and was elected justice of the peace and president of the Orleans Parish Police Jury. Seymour was the author of The story of Algiers, a history of the city published in 1926.
