University of Utah. Vice President for Health Sciences Office
Kenneth Castleton served as Vice President for Medical Affairs from 1969 to 1973. Dr. John Dixon was first to be appointed to the position of Vice President of Health Sciences (newly created by President David P. Gardner in 1974). After several years in top administrative posts at Harvard, Chase N. Peterson, M.D. replaced Dixon as Vice President of Health Sciences on September 1, 1978. Dr. Peterson remained in this position until July 1, 1983, when he succeeded David P. Gardner as President of the University.
