McKinley, David Hopwood, 1906-1986

David Hopwood McKinley, was born in Uniontown, Fayette County, and graduated high school in Curwensville, Clearfield County, Pa. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from Penn State, graduating in 1929. After receiving his J.D. from Western Reserve University in 1932, he practiced law in Cleveland for ten years and consulted as a research analyst and statistician until 1942. Between 1942 and 1946 he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and returned to Penn State as a faculty member in 1946 to teach economics. At his retirement in 1972, McKinley was professor of banking and associate dean of the College of Business Administration. He published three books, Federal Reserve System (1960), Your Bank (1960), and Forecasting Business Conditions (1965). McKinley was an amateur violist since 1929 and performed with several symphony orchestras in Cleveland, Ohio, and State College, Pa. He died in State College, 17 March 1986.
