American Rivers (Organization)

Founded in 1973 as the American Rivers Conservation Council, the organization changed its name to American Rivers in 1986. Their goal is to "preserve rivers in their free flowing condition." They work for the protection of significant rivers, dam removal, dam operation reform, allocation of water resources, and awareness of the importance of waterways.
