Brewbaker, James, 1939-
Dr. James Brewbaker was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 7, 1939. His father was an attorney and his mother was a homemaker. Dr. Brewbaker earned three degrees from the University of Virginia, a bachelors in English, Masters in English Education, and doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in English Education. He taught high school and junior high English in South Florida before joining Columbus State in 1971. Dr. Brewbaker served as Vice President and President of the Georgia Council of Teachers of English, and was honored in 2005 with their Lifetime Service Award. He is currently the poetry editor of the English Journal. In 2003 and 2004 he won first place in poetry at the Sandhill Writer's Conference at Augusta.
