The Two Million Dollar Endowment Campaign (1913-1917) raised money for a general endowment and faculty salary increases. The Williams Professorship Foundation, established June 1929, set a one-year goal to endow twelve professorships. George Alfred Cluett served as Chairman of the Foundation's Central Committee and Harry L. Agard, Director of Admissions at Williams College, served as secretary. Francis B. Sayre, Assistant to the President, also helped administer the Foundation. The William War Memorial Endowment campaign (1921) was administered by an outside agency, Tamblyn and Brown. The initial goal to increase faculty salaries was expanded to include funding for a new field house (Cole Field House).
