Houston, Thomas B. (Thomas Borthwick), b. 1834.
Locomotive engineer, of Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey; was born in Scotland; arrived in the United States prior to 1851; married Mary Coates (b. 1839) in 1857 and became a member of Joppa Lodge, Paterson, the same year; worked as a machinist at a railroad shop in Paterson; was employed by Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works, 1880-1900, to "set up" locomotives after their delivery to customers; owned real property in Paterson which he rented to others. One of Houston's eight children was named David Thomas Borthwick Houston, Jr.
