New Mexico. Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Dept.
The Energy and Minerals Department was established by a legislative act in 1977 (1977 Laws of N.M., Chp. 255, Sec. 3). This Department absorbed and replaced several governmental agencies involved with energy and minerals in New Mexico. In 1987 a legislative act abolished the Energy and Minerals Department (1987 Laws of N.M., Chp. 234, Sec. 82). The same 1987 legislative act established the Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department and transferred to that Department the functions of both the Energy and Minerals Department and the Natural Resources Department (1987 Laws of N.M., Chp. 234, Sec. 2 and 82). The Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department is responsible for research, planning, development, conservation, and regulation of activities involving energy, minerals, and natural resources in New Mexico.
