The University of Central Florida library was the first building to be erected on campus in 1968 and has since been the center from which the campus has grown. All social and academic acclivities in the first years of the university were conducted within the university library. Classroom space was provided in the library as well as holding the offices of the university's first president, Dr. Charles N. Millican, and his staff. Even with the quick growth of the campus, the university library has remained a hub for cultural and intellectual activity, offering students and faculty an open forum for discussion and reflection.
