Betts, Albert Deems, 1882-1958

Clergyman of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and author of Columbia, S.C.; born in Shiloh (Sumter County, S.C.); son of Rev. William Archibald Betts and Lillie Evelyn Wadsworth Betts; married, 1908, to Katherine Elvira Budd (d. 1947); in 1949, Betts married his second wife, Mary Evelyn de Medici of Aiken, S.C.; member of the board of the National Temperance League; author of published works including: History of South Carolina Methodism (published 1952); and pamphlet, South Carolina Methodism and Missions : an Historical Address Delivered Before the South Carolina Annual Conference, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South at Trinity Church, Charleston, S.C., November 30, 1915.
