Allen-Lane Company.
Firm of wholesale wool commission merchants, Boston, Mass. Organized in 1893 by Frederick D. Allen and Jonathan A. Lane. Earlier names were Allen, Whiting and Company and Allen, Lane and Washburn. Besides selling woolen goods on commission, this firm controlled several mills, among them the Georges River Mills at Warren, Me.; Devonshire Mills, Goff's Falls, N.H.; Monadnock Blanket Mills, Marlboro, N.H.; Rockfall Woolen Company, Middletown, Conn.; and the Walker Mills, Wilton, Me. The business ended in the 1930's.
