Neidecker, Frederick Starr, 1892-1945
Resident of Port Clinton, Ohio; served in U.S. Navy, 1910-1922, chiefly on board USS Montana, stationed at various naval bases on the eastern seaboard and sailing to numerous Mediterranean ports; involved in the uprising in Haiti (1914) and the dispute between Mexico and the U.S. (1913-1914); during Word War I, spent a year in Turkey and was involved in the sinking of a German submarine off the coast of France (1918); after his service in U.S. Navy, returned to Port Clinton and married Alpha Jane Hennessy; eventually joined furniture and funeral home business founded by his great-grandfather; also enjoyed genealogy and local history.
