Adams, John Cranford, 1903-1986
Adams was President of Hofstra University from 1944-1964, President Emeritus from 1964 until his death. He was an authority on Shakespeare and his book The Globe Playhouse was considered as the definitive research on Shakespeare's stage. He was also responsible for instituting the Shakespeare Festival, an annual event at Hofstra since 1950.
