York Railways Company
Organized 1907 by a merger of York County, Pa., electric railway companies originally controlled by York Traction Co.; last run of trolleys in York was in 1939; purchased all stock in York Bus Co.; chartered in 1931; reorganized under bankruptcy in 1937; streetcar operations ceased in 1939; sold York Bus Co., 1941 and continued to own electric power and steam heat; liquidated in 1946; succeeded by Metropolitan Edison Company.
