Bathke, Carl H. 1924 - 1998.
Carl H. Bathke was born in Wisconsin, where he played high school and American Legion baseball. He served during World War II and was a member of the military base baseball team. He was discharged in 1946 and his name was given to the Chicago Cubs for a tryout. Due to family commitments and low pay of the semi-pro baseball circuit, Bathke quit baseball and began working at the local paper mill. He continued to play baseball until 1954 and eventually became a fast pitch softball star in his local city.
