Spielmann, M. H. (Mabel Henrietta), 1862-1938
Mabel Henrietta (Samuel) Spielmann was born August 31, 1862 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, the daughter of Edwin Louis Samuel and Clara Samuel. She counted amongst her siblings: Sir Stuart Montagu Samuel, Bt.; Dennis Edwin Samuel; Gilbert Ellis Samuel and Herbert Samuel, 1st Viscount Samuel. Educated in Brussels, Spielmann was a well-known children's book author. In addition to her children's books, Spielmann wrote about the life and work of Charlotte Brontë, and about the history of art.
She married M.H. (Marion Harry) Spielmann, the art critic, who was also her first cousin, and they had one child, Dr. Percy Edwin Spielmann. She died May 01, 1938.
