Perry Park Metropolitan District (Perry Park, Colo.)
The Perry Park Metropolitan District was formed in 1977 by the residents of Perry Park Ranch and approved by the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners. It is a quasi-municipal organization with all powers of a town except police and zoning. It was formed primarily to maintain roads, save green belts, pay for street lights, etc. Meetings are held monthly. Directors are elected by the community. The Perry Park Metro District sued Colorado Western Development Company and Lee Stubblefield in Douglas County District Court in 1979 for promised (but undelivered) road and sewer systems and won; however, the judge's decision was reversed on appeal. Douglass F. Woolston was variously treasurer, secretary, and president of the Board of Directors from 1977 until 1994. The papers in the collection are his record of District activities during that time.
