Hawley, Elias S. (Elias Sill), 1812-1899.
Born in Moreau, Saratoga County, N.Y., 28 Oct. 1812; graduated from Union College in 1833. Came to Buffalo in 1833, where he taught school, practiced law, and served as superintendent of schools in 1844, 1846, and 1847. He also served as alderman from 1867-1868, and as a member of the New York State Assembly in 1883.
