Gill, William H., 1886-
William H. Gill was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He was a cadet at the Virginia Military Institute; served as a captain, Virginia National Guard; lieutenant, 21st and 8th U.S. Infantry Regiments; captain, Provost Guard, 5th Infantry Division; major, 6th U.S. Infantry Regiment; faculty, Command and General Staff School; major, 30th U.S. Infantry Regiment; War Department General Staff; lieutenant colonel, 29th and 27th U.S. Infantry Regiments; Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) instructor, University of California; executive officer, Army War College; colonel, chief of staff, 8th Infantry Division; brigadier-general, 55th Infantry Brigade; deputy commanding general, 28th Infantry Division; major general, 89th and 32nd Infantry Divisions.
