The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost coordinates and administers the academic and personnel policies of the University. The office also plays a key role in strategic planning, budgetary issues, capital planning, and information technology initiatives. Reporting directly to the President, the position of Provost was created in 1953 and has undergone several changes over the years, including name changes: Vice President for Academic Affairs (1961), Provost (1988), Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost (2002), and Executive Vice President and Provost (2006).
