Service Employees International Union. Local 55 (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
Local 55 was chartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in May 1937 by theBuilding Service Employees' International Union. The Local represented approximately 50 Cedar Rapids school maintenance workers at its founding. By 1972 the membership had risen to around 200.
