Design and Construction Services at the University of California, Irvine, is responsib for major architectural projects on campus, including buildings, parking structures and infrastructure. Between 1965 and 1980, its functions were carried out by the Office of Physical Planning and Construction. In 1980, the name was shortened to Office of Physical Planning, reporting to the Director of the Office of Budget and Planning, under the Executive Vice Chancellor. Between 1987 and 1990, the office decentralized into discrete units, eventually reporting to separate points in the campus administration. Design and Construction Services is currently under the leadership of the Associate Vice Chancellor and Campus Architect, who reports to the Vice Chancellor, Administrative and Business Services.
