Bush, Dorothy Walker, 1901-1992

Dorothy Walker Bush (1901-1992) was born near Walker's Point, Walker County, Maine on July 1, 1901. She attended Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut. She married Prescott Sheldon Bush on August 6, 1921 in Kennebunkport, Maine. They had five children together including Prescott S. Bush, Jr.; George Herbert Walker Bush (41st President of the United States); Nancy Bush Ellis; Jonathan James Bush; and William Henry Trotter "Bucky" Bush. Her husband was a Republican senator from Connecticut from 1952 to 1963. An avid sportswoman, she enjoyed riding and was especially adept at tennis. She was runner-up in the 1918 Girl's National Tournament for tennis. She died at her home in Greenwich, Connecticut on November 19, 1992.
