Simonson, Joy R.

Educated at Bryn Mawr College and American University, Simonson was senior program officer for the U.S. delegation to the International Women's Year conference in Mexico City in 1975. She served as assistant director of the Federal Women's Program, U.S. Civil Service Commission, and as executive director of the National Advisory Council on Women's Educational Programs, 1975-1982. The NACWEP was established by the Women's Educational Equity Act to advise the Commissioner of Education on administration of the act and to make recommendations concerning the improvement of educational equity for women generally.
