Kinkade, M. Dale (Marvin Dale), 1933-

M. Dale Kinkade was born on July 18, 1933. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Washington. He later earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University in 1963. Professor Kinkade taught at the University of Kansas from 1964 to 1973 and then, at the University of British Columbia, where he retired in December 1998. He contributed to three Salish language dictionaries; published over one hundred papers with the International Journal of American Linguistics, Anthropological Linguistics, and other profession journals; and wrote chapters for the Handbook of North American Indians. He was also served as a long-time member of American Anthropological Association, Linguistic Society of America, and Society for the Study of the Indigenous Languages of the Americas. Professor Kinkade died on December 19, 2004
