Carter, William A., 1822-1876
The diary writer is not identified in the volume, although he refers to his wife as 'Mrs C.'. His name and age have been established from passenger lists. He may have been the William Carter who lived in Sale, Victoria, served as a Borough Councillor, and died there in 1880.
