Compagnie des Indes orientales
The Compagnie des Indes Orientales, or the French East India Company, was a member of the consolidated European trade corporation known as the East India Company. The Compagnie des Indes Orientales was organized in 1664 by Jean Baptiste Colbert, the chief advisor to King Louis XIV of France, and was dissolved in 1769 when its possessions were officially annexed to the French crown.
