Baker, George Oscar, 1828-1891.
Baker, a Philadelphia native, came to Alabama in 1855 and worked as a mechanical and mining engineer with the Montevallo Coal Company. He moved to Selma and, after the Civil War, helped to establish the Central Oil Mill. He owned extensive holdings in mining and real estate. Joseph P. Parrish was Baker's grandson and owned an insurance agency in Selma.
