Fuqua, James O.
James Overton Fuqua was a slaveholder and property owner of East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana. He was a member of the Baton Rouge law firm Fuqua and Callihan. A Confederate soldier, Fuqua was wounded in the Battle of Shiloh. He married Jenny M. Foules of Kingston, Miss., in October 1857. His son, Henry Luce Fuqua (1865-1926), served as governor of Louisiana, 1924-1926, and his daughter, Annie, married Thomas D. Boyd.
