Freeman Stone Co. (Proctorsville, Vt.)
The Freeman Stone Co., in Proctorsville, Vt., was first listed in "Walton's Vermont Register" in 1878 under the name A.B. Freeman and Son. It was named for Allen B. and Stanley D. Freeman. The company manufactured and sold soapstone griddles, foot warmers, soapstone dust, and scythe stones. In 1882 Fletcher Proctor became involved in the business and the name was changed to the Freeman Stone Co. The company apparently went out of business after 1886.
