McDonald, Arlys L.
Arlys Lorraine McDonald was born to Leo Richard and Christine Mae (Hays) McDonald in Edison, Nebraska on January 6, 1932. She earned her Bachelor of Music from St. Mary of the Plains College (1963) and her Master of Music from the University of Illinois (1965). She began her professional career as an assistant professor of music at St. Mary of the Plains College in 1965. McDonald came to Arizona State University in 1968 as a music librarian and served as the Head of the Music Library from 1971 until her retirement in January of 1995. She authored both Ned Rorem: A Bio-Bibliography (1989) and Phoenix in the New Groves Dictionary of American Music (1986).
