New Zealand Peace Council

The organisation was formed in November 1948, as The Anti-Conscription & Peace Council. It later changed to The N.Z. Peace & Anti-Conscription Federation and in 1950 became The New Zealand Peace Council - in line with the World Council of Peace. In 1965 the stated aims of the Council were:- The abolition of nuclear weapons; the right of countries to conduct their own affairs; an end to the was in Vietnam ...; an independent foreign policy for NZ.
