Ellen Zukunft McGrew (1919-2008) was an officer in the United States Navy, State of North Carolina Archivist, Department of Agriculture and Social Security administrator, high school teacher and women's basketball coach, medical X-Ray technician, political activist, world traveler, a Maine lobsterwoman, a purser on the famed Casco Bay Steamship, Sabino, a wife, and mother.
Born in Portland, ME, to Johannes A.E. Zukunft, and Helen McCann, McGrew graduated from Portland High School where she was an all-star basketball player. Following high school, she graduated from Westbrook Junior College and worked as an X-ray technician.
