Martí de Cid, Dolores

Dolores Martí de Cid professor and expert on Latin American literature received her doctorate in "Filosofía y Letras" in 1943, from the University of Havana. She married José Cid Pérez, a prominent Cuban playwright, in 1939, and both left Cuba in 1960 after the communist took over the government. After arriving in the United States she began teaching at the University of Kansas and then was professor at Purdue University. She lectured in several countries, wrote many articles and books on Latin American theatre, as well as textbooks, and received many awards and honors as a result. Dolores Martí de Cid died in New York City, in May 1993.
