Stanley, Jackson, 1914-
Holman Francis Day was born in Maine in 1865; attended Colby College; wrote for Maine newspapers and magazines; published two books of poetry, Up in Maine (1900) and Pine tree ballads (1902); published several novels, including Squire Phin (1905), King spruce (1908), The ramrodders (1910), and The rider of the king log (1919); writings include tales of the supernatural; died in 1935.
