The Center for the Study of World Religions, built in 1960, was designed by Sert, Jackson and Gornley. Located on Francis Avenue, the Center is a residence for students of different faiths. The sponsors and donors wished to supplement classroom studies of history of religions by creating a space conducive to informal communication and personal acquaintance. The Center for the Study of World Religions joins the Harvard Divinity School, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and all of Harvard's professional schools and programs at the points where their research bears on the understanding of religion.
