Attorney, state legislator, and U.S. Congressman and Confederate Congressman; born in Charleston, S.C.; practiced law in Winnsboro (Fairfield County, S.C.); in 1866, moved permanently to Washington, D.C., and practiced law until late 1880s; husband of Mary Elizabeth Pearson Boyce (1820-1908).
