Davidson, Lynch, 1873-1952

Lynch Davidson (1873-1952) was one of Texas’ most prominent businessmen and served as Lieutenant Governor of Texas. Born on January 3, 1873, in Cotile, Louisiana, Davidson moved with his parents to Groesbeck, Texas while still an infant. He began his career in the lumber industry in 1887 and opened his own lumber business in 1896.

In 1918, Davidson won a seat in the Texas House of Representatives of the 36th Legislature. He resigned in 1919 to fill the vacated state senate seat of R.M. Johnstone. In 1920 Davidson successfully ran for lieutenant governor and served one term (1921-1923). He returned to Houston after his term expired to continue serving as an executive of his lumber company until his death in 1952.
