Hirsh Ira J.

Psychologist and audiologist, b. 1922. Hirsch received his doctorate in experimental psychology from Harvard University in 1948. He joined the faculty of both Washington University and of Central Institute for the Deaf in 1951. At Washington University his appointments included serving as dean of the faculty of Arts and Sciences (1969-1973) and as chair of the department of Psychology (1983-1987). In 1992 Hirsh retired as director of research emeritus and director emeritus at Central Institute for the Deaf, and as Mallinckrodt Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Audiology.
