Dreher, Jennie Clarkson.

Born and reared in Columbia, SC, Jennie Clarkson Dreher Evins (1916-2006) graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1937 with an AB in Education and a certificate in Fine Arts. In 1942 she married James F. Dreher. She was active in civic and cultural endeavors, including the Columbia Junior League, the Junior League Speech and Hearing Clinic, the Town Theatre, and the Columbia Museum of Art.

As president of the Historic Columbia Foundation (1962-1967 and 1970-1971), she worked to raise monies and to encourage the passage of legislation promoting the saving of historic sites and properties in Columbia, S.C., one of which was the Robert Mills Historic House and Park. The Richland County Historic Preservation Commission, the City Planning Commission, The Capital City Development Foundation's Downtown Revitalization Committee, the South Carolina Bicentennial Commission, the Board of Advisors of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Board of Trustees of the National Trust counted her as a valued member. She was twice honored as the recipient of the Order of the Palmetto. After the death of James Dreher, she married Tom Evins.
