Nevada Central Railroad
Narrow gauge railroad operating on a line between Austin and Battle Mountain, Nev., from 1879 until 1938; originally named the Nevada Central Railway, it operated for three years (1879-1881); in 1881 the Nevada Central Railway was purchased by the Union Pacific Railroad but lack of income and the need for maintenance gave the Union Pacific reason to allow the line to be sold at bankruptcy to the stockholders and original owners, the Stokes family; a new company, the Nevada Central Railroad was established 1 Nov. 1888.
From the description of Nevada Central Railroad records, 1880-1938 bulk 1880-1892. (Nevada State Historical Society). WorldCat record id: 166428605
